Energy Series
High Performance Power Amplifiers
Product Information
Energy 2
and Energy 3
power amplifiers have been created to satisfy all the exacting
requirements of high-standard professional applications such as
big indoor and outdoor concerts and large-scale permanent
installations.
In Energy 2 and Energy 3, Generalmusic has exploited the most
advanced design concepts currently available in the field, using
output transistors of the latest generation, top-quality
circuitry and avant-garde solutions for double-stage power
supply, heat dissipation and protection systems.
Energy 2 and Energy 3, constructed to Class AB standards with
bipolar transistors in plastic casing, have a floating bridge
configuration that allows extraordinarily high power outputs to
be obtained even with very low impedances, giving excellent
dynamics and minimal distortion levels.
Output Power
Energy 3 (3 rack units) supplies up to 1500W per
channel at 4 Ohms, and 3000W in mono configuration
(bridge) at 4 Ohms.
Energy 2 (2 rack units) supplies up to 1000W per
channel at 4 Ohms, and 1800W in mono
configuration (bridge) at 4 Ohms.
Double-Stage Power Supply Circuit
The double-stage power supply circuit guarantees higher
efficiency with respect to amplifiers using conventional
systems. In fact, the transformer provides only the voltage
necessary for the power output required at any given moment,
optimizing amplifier yield and drastically reducing the
amount of energy lost as heat.
Cooling System
The cooling system used in Energy 2 and Energy 3 includes
two separate heat sinks in tin-plated copper, almost twice as
efficient as traditional heat sinks.
A sophisticated control circuit measures the temperatures
recorded by sensors located directly on the sinks, and varies
the speed of the two large-diameter cooling fans to ensure
that the flow of air is always exactly right for the
operating conditions. If necessary, the control circuit also
gradually reduces the power supplied to the output
transistors, and activates a limiter that attenuates the
level of the input signal.
When conditions return to normal, the amplifier starts
gradually working at full power again.
Protections
Energy 2 and Energy 3 guarantee total safety in even the
harshest operating conditions, thanks to a comprehensive
series of systems that protect the amplifier itself and the
speaker units connected to it.
Loudspeaker
protection: eliminates current peaks that could
damage speakers in the case of malfunctions.
Thermal protection
on the output transistors.
SOA (Safe Operation
Area) processor: checks that the output
transistors are always operating in maximum safety
conditions.
Current protection
on the output transistors: limits output current
in the case of short circuits or overloads at the level of
the output transistors.
Thermal protection
on transformer: in the case of thermal overload, a
cut-out disconnects the loading on the transformer until the
temperature returns to normal levels.
Anti-clipping:
a limiter checks the level of input signals and
instantaneously cuts the ones that could cause the amplifier
to clip, at the same time guaranteeing the maximum power
output.
